What is Rotary?
- A Worldwide organisation of professional and business people
- It has over 1.1 million members in 162 countries
- It has 1,750 clubs in Great Britain and Ireland
What does it do?
- It brings together people of like mind who become involved with many and different projects at local, national and international levels
- It is a service orientated organisation working in the local community to help and give encouragement where it is needed
- It raises funds for worthy cause locally, nationally and internationally
- It fosters friendship and understanding between like minded men and women who believe that self fulfilment comes from helping others
But what about Rotary in Cardiff?
- There are seven clubs with about 250 members
- Each has its own fundraising and service programmes
- Each has an interesting and varied social calendar with a number of events which also give partners the opportunity to get involved and meet people
What's in it for me?
- Friendship and company amongst peers from varying backgrounds
- Involvement in your community
- An ‘entry' into local communities worldwide
- If you change your job you may transfer to another club in your new geographical area
Commitment?
- Rotary Clubs meet weekly with the exception of some bank holidays
- Rotarians are expected to attend about 22 meetings each year
